AWS Bedrock
Amazon Web Services' managed service for accessing foundation AI models within the AWS infrastructure boundary, enabling organisations to use AI without transmitting data to external model providers.
AWS Bedrock is Amazon Web Services' fully managed platform for accessing and running foundation models — large language models and other AI models — within the AWS infrastructure boundary. Rather than routing requests to an external AI provider's API, Bedrock processes inference requests within the same AWS region as the customer's other infrastructure.
Data sovereignty implications
For Australian organisations, AWS Bedrock in the Sydney region (ap-southeast-2) means AI inference can happen without data leaving Australian jurisdiction. LegalScout uses AWS Bedrock for all AI inference. When your matter documents are processed, the computation happens within AWS Sydney — your content is not transmitted to an overseas endpoint. This is what distinguishes a genuine Australian-hosted AI platform from a product with a local website and overseas infrastructure.
