LegalScout
Australian cloud hosting

Your data stays in Australia.

Every component of LegalScout's infrastructure — compute, database, document storage, and AI inference — runs in AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2). Data sovereignty is architectural, not a policy promise.

Infrastructure stack

Every layer, onshore.

Data sovereignty claims only mean something when every component in the stack honours them — including the AI layer.

  1. 1

    Compute & API

Application servers running in AWS EC2 — Sydney region. All API traffic stays within the ap-southeast-2 boundary.

  2. 2

    Database

AWS RDS PostgreSQL 16 with encryption at rest managed by AWS KMS. Automated backups retained within the Sydney region.

  3. 3

    Document storage

Uploaded matter documents and firm knowledge stored in AWS S3 buckets scoped to ap-southeast-2. Server-side encryption enabled by default.

  4. 4

    AI inference

Large language model queries processed via AWS Bedrock — a managed AWS service that keeps inference within the AWS Australia boundary, not routed to external AI APIs.

  5. 5

    Caching & queues

Redis cache and Celery task queues for background processing — both hosted within the Sydney region alongside the application layer.

Assurances

What onshore actually means.

Many legal technology vendors describe themselves as 'Australian' while routing AI queries through US-based models, storing documents in US S3 buckets, or using identity providers with international data centres. LegalScout's infrastructure was designed for the Australian legal market from day one. AWS Bedrock provides AI inference within the AWS Australia boundary — your matter documents are never sent to a US API endpoint to generate a response.

  • Data never transits through or is stored in US, EU, or other international AWS regions
  • AI inference via AWS Bedrock — no data sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, or other third-party AI APIs
  • Firm documents, conversations, and matter data remain within Australian jurisdiction at all times
  • S3 document storage with S3-managed server-side encryption (SSE-S3)
  • RDS automated backups and point-in-time recovery — all within ap-southeast-2
  • Auth0 Australian tenant for identity and access management
